A male “albino” great white shark has been found in Australia.

The 5-foot shark had become beached in shallows of Port Hacking in New South Wales, Australia.

Luke Anslow posted photos to the White Shark Interest groups Facebook page.

Even though the shark appears albino it is more likely leucistic, a condition in which there is a loss of pigmentation in the animal which results in the pale color.

Mr. Anslow said the shark was alive and thrashing around when found.

The shark had all of its fins, one of the pectoral fins had folded underneath its body during the struggle.

White sharks are a protected species in Australia, so the Department of Fisheries were called to the scene and took the shark.
