Nurse Shark gets a new home with Guy Harvey

Guy Harvey RumFish Grill has a new happy nurse shark to entertain its patrons.  The 7 year-old nurse shark was captured as a pup back in 2008 from his home in the Atlantic Ocean.  The 4ft 35 pound male shark has been educating children and adults at the South Florida Science Center for the last six years.   This “teenage” shark finally out grew his 3,500 gallon aquarium, and has moved up to a new 33,500 gallon aquarium.

The Aquarium has over 200 fish the shark can hang out with and all are monitored by Secrets of the Sea, whose mission is “to enhance the public’s understanding of the value and fragility of the marine environment through research, education and personal experiences”.

Nurse sharks can live up to the ripe old age of 25 in captivity.

The tank was featured on the Animal Planet show TANKED (s5E11 The Winds of Trade) .  If you would like to check out the sharks new house, head over to RumFish Grill St. Pete Beach, FL.  I
