Possible shark bite in North Carolina

A surfer was bitten on his foot yesterday off Ocracoke, North Carolina.

Justin Gibbs, Director of Hyde County Emergency Services told to witn.com  “The injury appeared consistent with a bite from a small shark.”

The 43-year-old suffered lacerations to his foot after stepping on something a little before 8 a.m.

He was unable to stop the bleeding and sought out medical help.

The man declined to be take to the hospital, but said he may go when he returned to the mainland.

There have been eight bites in North Carolina this year, with one in July on Ocracoke when a 67-year-old swimmer was bitten on the thigh.
