Shark bite in South Carolina


A 43-year-old man was bitten by a shark off Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina.

Lance Donahue Jr was wading in the knee deep surf when he spotted a 3 to 4 foot shark and as he yelled “shark” a second shark bit his foot.

He told We are Central PA.com “I saw a shark and I yelled shark and I started to turn but then there was a second one that uh grabbed my foot and I yanked loose and it grabbed me again and It started to shake its head around a little bit.”

The Lady’s Island St. Helena Fire District reported to the scene around 11 am and treated the victim who had heavy bleeding on scene.

Mr. Donahue sustained injuries to the top and bottom of his left foot.

He was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and is in good condition.

According to WTOC the man believed the shark to be around 10 inches in Diameter.

The location has been marked on the 2015 shark attack bites tracking map.

The next state over, North Carolina has been experiencing a number of serious shark related incidents in the past month.

On June 14th teens Hunter Treschl and Kiersten Yow both lost arms to shark attacks that occurred on the same stretch of beach only hours apart.

In addition there was a reported bite on an eight year old boy and a boogie boarder was bitten on the foot.
