Myrtle Beach reports 2 shark attacks on the same day

Karen sites was shark attacked bitten off myrtle beach

Two beachgoers are recovering after being attacked by sharks at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Karren Sites was visiting from Pennsylvania Aug. 15 when her vacation took a turn for the worse.

Sites waded into the waist-deep water around 75th Avenue North a little after noon as her grandson Brian watched from about 10 feet away on the sand.

“I just felt something, I guess, bite me and there was a shark on my arm,” she told ABC 15. “I kept pushing at it to get it off my arm.“

After pushing the shark several times, it finally released its grip.

Brian said he just saw the shark jump, and its tail go side to side, as his grandmother screamed and then saw the shark drop.

Sites was taken to a local hospital where she received stitches and antibiotics. While her right forearm is damaged, she is just glad her grandson is okay.

A second shark bite occurred on the same day, North of 82nd Avenue, but no further information has become available.

This marks the third shark attack bite in Myrtle Beach this year.

On June 21, an unidentified man was off Pirate Family Campgrounds when he was bitten. Earlier, a teenager was taken from the beach in an ambulance, but very little information has been made available.

Another vacationer was bitten May 24 off Kiawah Island.

All locations have been marked on the 2022 Shark Attack Map.
