Sean Pollard lost one hand and the other forearm in a shark attack. The 23-year-old surfer also sustained serious injuries to his legs. The incident occurred at Wylie Bay Beach in the town of Esperance Australia.

Mr. Pollard was able to return to the beach under his own power and was assisted onto shore by two beach goers.

A total of two sharks were killed in the vicinity after the incident.  Fishers state one of the sharks was responsible for the attack.

A fellow surfer and an off-duty ambulance worker gave Mr. Pollard first aid.

The department of Fishers killed a 14ft Great White shark, which they believe was responsible for the attack.
