A fisherman in caught a juvenile Great White shark in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa.
The shark which is a protected species in SA is illegal to fish for.
Instead of immediately trying to release the shark, the fisherman decided he would remove the hook first.
The Daily Mail quoted Lars Liedberg, who filmed the video saying ‘I suggested they just cut it because the shark seemed distressed but this guy did not want to waste a hook.’
After the hook is removed the shark was drug back into the water and appeared to swim away.
No word on whether the fisherman will face charges.
