Bull Shark found swimming in Florida freshwater landlocked pond

A bull shark has been spotted in a landlocked pond in Florida. Gleason Park’s freshwater pond located in Indian Harbour Beach is home a variety of species including turtles, carp and tilapia. Bull sharks living in fresh water is no real news, what make this special is that there is only one drain that connects to the river and it has strainers and baskets, which would make it impossible for the shark to swim through.

Public Works Supervisor Jim Matthew told Florida today “I think somebody caught it and put it in there. That thing could have been put in there years ago, and it’s just gotten big enough to see. I don’t know.”

Authorities have contracted  Melbourne licensed wildlife trapper James Dean to capture the shark and release it in the Indian River Lagoon

**Update**
Often times pet owners will release unwanted fish or reptiles into the wild. This can have a tremendous negative impact on the environment. A few of the major issues have been with lion fish thrown in the ocean and boa constrictors in the everglades. Since they are not native, they eat everything and create an environmental night mare.
