A great white shark washed up on a North Carolina Beach this morning.

The shark was found on Wrightsville Beach along the shoreline near the Crystal Pier at the Oceanic Restaurant.

The eight foot long female shark is estimated to be around 20 years old.

There were multiple bite marks on the shark; however they do not appear to be the cause of death, but more likely bites from scavengers.

A group from UNCW’s Marine Mammal Stranding program has moved the shark and a necropsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determined the cause of death.

Earlier this year two great white sharks were found beached along the Eastern US coast.

Over-fishing kills sharks! I bet this is bycatch and the fisherman just threw it overboard. So sad
