Shark bite in SA

A 42-year-old surfer was bitten by a shark Sunday.

The man was surfing with a friend near Morris Reef, in Still Bay which is close to Mossel Bay, South Africa, when a suspected great white shark bit the unidentified man on the right thigh and leg.  The shark was estimated to be around 9 to 11 feet long.

Two off-duty NSRI were surfing in the area and assisted the injured man into shore. They along with a member of the public provided first aid treatment and prepared the man for emergency air lift.

He was flown to George in serious but stable condition.

The location has been marked on the 2015 shark attack bites tracking map.
