Shark bites Kite surfer in New Caledonia

A kitesurfer has been attacked by a shark in New Caledonia

A man was bitten by a shark after he fell into the waters of Sainte Marie Bay where he was kitesurfing March 18.

Reports indicate the 42-year-old used his sail to travel back to shore where Good Samaritans came to his aid. Laurent Borgna was treated in hospital for the lacerations to his calf and his wounds are considered non-life-threatening injuries.

This would be the eleventh bite of the year.
