A great white shark known as Hilton is currently being tracked in the Gulf of Mexico, and it’s not the first time a great white has been tracked in the Florida Panhandle. Hilton is a mature great white that weighed 1,326 pounds when tagged on March 3, 2017 off the coast of Hilton Head, South Carolina. The male shark was caught and tagged by the nonprofit group OCEARCH during their Lowcountry Expedition. Battle with a Bull Shark

Keith Love was spearfishing off the coast of Texas when he got into a battle with a bull shark. The 31-year-old, who runs spearfishing expeditions for his company Tuff Extreme, had taken clients out in the Gulf of Mexico. The group had speared a few wahoo fish and several sharks had taken notice and began swimming around the area. Mr. Love free dove down to around 15 or 20 feet and speared another wahoo. OCEARCH Completing Expedition in Gulf of Mexico

OCEARCH and The Harte Research Institute had a rough start for #ExpeditionGoMex. Hurricane Patricia, the strongest land falling Pacific hurricane on record, delayed them team from their Gulf of Mexico tagging trip. OCEARCH heads to the Gulf of Mexico

  Non-profit organization OCEARCH, has announced an expedition to expand shark research in the Gulf of Mexico. The group has partnered with the Harte Research Institute (HRI) and assembled a multi-institutional science team. Together they plan to obtain data on the health of gulf sharks. Though they are specifically looking for mako, hammerhead and tiger sharks, they might just run across a great white. Great White bites boat off Panama City Florida

Captain Scott Fitzgerald got the shock of his life when a Great White Shark bit his boat Monday morning. He was about eight miles out into the Gulf of Mexico when the 10-foot shark bumped his boat and bit his trolling motor. The captain, who runs Mad Fish Charters quickly pulled the motor up and began filming the shark on his cell phone.
