Eighteen year old Ryan Shapiro was bitten off Fort Pierce Inlet State Park in Florida on Saturday.

The surfer was paddeling out to the jetty when he was bitten by a 4ft long spinner shark.

“It just hit me like hit me so hard,” Shapiro told WPBF . “I remember the shark, it literally jumped on top of me.”

“Once it bit my arm, it, like, cut my back. I was just in so much shock,” Shapiro said.

He was in waist deep water and was able to run back to shore.
Even though the shark tore seven tendons in his arm, Shapiro will be ready to get back in the water.

“I just want to go back to the water,” Shapiro said. “Even though the shark bit me I had my fight with it and everything, I just want to go surf with my mates.”

He is expected to make a full recovery in about 6 weeks.

He met rescue workers at the 900 block of Shorewinds Drive around 4:30pm

Marked on the 2014 shark bites attack tracking map.
