Great White Shark relative found in Ireland

A six-foot shark from the great white family has been found on an Irish beach.

Photographer Bernard Fitzgerald spotted the female porbeagle shark as he was strolling along Aughacasla beach in Castlegregory, Co Kerry.

The shark showed no signs of injury and its death remains a mystery, but may have died during childbirth.

While the shark looks aggressive, there has only been one documented unprovoked and one provoked attack on humans.

They have been known to charge divers and brush against them, but this could be a defensive charge.

The sharks have been regarded as nuisance animals by commercial fishing gear as they will steal fish from lines.
