A whale shark has been rescued from fishing net in Peru. Video taken in the coastal area of Tumbes, Peru August 26 shows the moment a group of fisherman attempt to untangle a beached shark. The fishermen were able to cut through heavy net and push the shark back into the water. It is unknown whether the net was actively being used or if it had simply been discarded. A Sad Day For Whale Sharks

It is a sad day for whale sharks across the globe. We start off with a whale shark that was killed when it was hit by a ship in Jayapura waters off Papua, Indonesia. The 13 foot (4m) shark was hit by the ship this morning. The captain apparently could not avoid hitting the shark and it appears to have succumbed to it’s injuries fairly quickly. Two men have been detained in the death of whale shark in China. Photographs of the dead whale shark were posted on social media last Saturday. The shark was being hoisted by a crane reportedly at the Beihai market south of the Guangxi province. Whale Shark Freed from Entanglement

A diver helped free an entangled whale shark off the coast of Mexico in the above. The shark was seen swimming wrapped up in a rope off Socorro Island, which is part of the Revillagigedo Archipelago. The video was filmed as part of the Smithsonian documentary Secrets of Shark Island. The film examines sea life off of the Revillagigedo Islands, which consists of four volcanic islands and is a natural junction in the Pacific Ocean.
