Suspected Shark bite in NSW

Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia.
There has been a report of a suspected shark attack at Lighthouse Beach on Wednesday evening.  The alleged attack happened not long after 6 p.m. An eyewitness said the victim ended up driving himself to hospital after suffering wounds to his leg.  The witness told Port News, a man was paddling out to take some photos of other surfers when he swam through a wave into the direct path of the shark.
“He punched at the shark and then kept throwing punches because he thought it would come back,” the witness said. The eyewitness said there were lots of bait fish in the vicinity and a very strong smell of fish emanating from the water.  Authorities were unable to confirm the report as of 9.30 p.m.

This would be the Ninth reported bite of 2014.
